Rotary Club of Mumbai Queens Necklace

GVET had partnered with the Rotary Club of Queens Necklace Mumbai for the following value additions to Nareshwadi

  • The educational efforts and needs of GVET by setting up a biogas plant for cooking children’s meals, upgrading the Bhojangruh (school kitchen and dining hall) with improved ventilation and light, installing kitchen equipments like idli maker, chapatti atta maker, wet spice grinder etc for ease in food preparation as well as to provide a wider variety of meal options for the children.
  • The Project also supports vocational training for children and basic training in organic cultivation to learn skills that nurture their roots.

The biggest focus of the project is capacity building of teachers to improve the quality of teaching-learning in Nareshwadi School to ensure children’s grades improve.

Catalysts for Social Action

In August 2017 GVET signed a MoU with Catalysts for Social Action (CSA) which works closely with the Balgruh.

The Helping Hands

  • Over the past two years CSA provided notebooks, textbooks,stationery, hygiene kits in each semester and new clothes and footwear for Divali. They also held a Divali party for the children. In addition, they arranged training for primary school teachers and house parents.
  • Throughout the two years they conducted a series of life skills sessions for 9 th grade children residing on campus. They also took the Balgruh children on excursions.

Our Balgruh won the 3rd prize

A cultural program was organized on 26 th November 2019 for all Balgruhs supported by CSA throughout the country. . From February 2019 CSA has started providing all hostel children with snacks at the end of the school day.

LeapForWord

GVET has collaborated with LeapforWord for the past 7 years to improve English literacy for Nareshwadi School children.

The Grant Support

  • Classes are held based on the competency level of children and conducted by the school teachers every day. Parents have reported that their children show off their English speaking ability at home and they are happy that Nareshwadi offers English right from grade 1.

Children are able to read, write and pronounce difficult words as well.
